The Communion - Walkthrough

The Communion is the fourth Campaign mission of Destiny 2's The Witch Queen expansion. After completing the previous mission The Ghosts, you'll unlock The Communion by speaking to Ikora Rey. This mission can be located on Europa and launched from within the destination. Both Standard and Legendary difficulties have a recommended Power level of 1420, although Legendary offers better rewards.

When you begin, you'll drop into the icy landscape on Europa with the task of reaching the Pyramid. Thankfully, it's not too hard to find as it's that large black object looming in the distance. Push forward, fighting your way through the Cabal enemies until you receive a transmission from Empress Caiatl. Jump down into the area below where a bunch of Cabal appear to be landing. There's a Rally Banner point here, as well.

Alongside the Cabal enemies, you'll see a glowing orange dome. As you approach, the dome shield will lower and reveal a Goliath Tank. This large vehicle is extremely dangerous and will fire a volley of missiles periodically.

The best strategy is to hide behind a large ice block or any cover around the area and hit it with your Power weapon. The wheels are its weak spot, so aim there for additional damage. Defeat all the enemies here and continue forward for another wave of enemies, and another Goliath Tank to deal with.

There are a few areas that provide good cover, so utilize the same strategy to protect yourself from imminent death while peeking out to take shots in between the Goliath Tank attacks.

Once all enemies have been cleared, approach and interact with the Pyramid shard to enter the Pyramid. You'll be dropped into a room with a large orange Cabal shield blocking the doorway. To get around it, enter the nearby doorway on the left. As you approach the opening at the end of the hallway, the door will close, but another will open to your right. Proceed inside and platform your way across the next room.

You'll drop down behind the blocked door. Head left into the next area and platform your way across to the group of enemies ahead. Defeat them and cross the bridge after it's extended.

In the next room, deal with the enemies and approach the nearby signal jammer. After interacting with it, the Pyramid will shift, revealing new platforms. This is the key mechanic you'll be using for the remainder of this mission.

Defeat the group of enemies that spawn in and make your way up the stairs. There's a hole in the floor to the left that you can drop down to reach the next area. Platform your way across the narrow ledges along the wall and watch out for the Scorpius turret at the end. Enter the doorway and proceed into the next room.

A number of Cabal enemies will spawn in from above and drop down on the ledges above you. Take care of them and continue through the marked doorway. In the next room, there's a Rally Banner area if you need to refill ammo and abilities.

When you enter the room, clear out the enemies and the Pyramid will shift again. Then, the next wave of Cabal will arrive along with an Imperial Deserter miniboss.

Drop its health down by one-third and it will gain a temporary shield. A Signal Jammer will be marked on the right side of the room. Interact with it to force the Pyramid to shift once more and drop the Imperial Deserter's shield.

Take its health down another third and repeat the same process above to drop its shield and finish it off. Grab the loot up top and continue around the corner. Platform across the ledges, defeating enemies as you go, until you reach the orange beam of energy radiating upwards.

Jump into the orange light to be carried up to another platform. A bridge will reveal itself from across the way. Take the bridge and enter the doorway up ahead.

Inside the next room, you'll find a group of Cabal shooting at the Darkness statue. Clear them out and disable the three marked Signal Jammers around the room. Take note of their locations as they will be important during the upcoming fight.

Boss Fight: Valus Dralgur, The Exiled

After all three Jammers have been deactivated, the Pyramid will shift and Valus Dralgur, The Exiled will enter the room from the entrance, along with plenty of Cabal enemies.

This fight is pretty similar to the previous one, except a bit more chaotic as enemy reinforcements will continue pouring in, along with Cabal dropships shooting at you. Play around the edges of the room and utilize cover to avoid exposing yourself.

Take Valus' health down to the first tick mark on his health bar and he'll put up a shield, rendering him immune from damage. Yep, you guessed it, you'll need to hit all three Jammers to drop his shield. Make your way around the room and disable each one, while keeping enemies off your back.

After each one is disabled, the Pyramid will shift, adding new cover and removing others. Keep an eye on the changing room so you don't leave yourself exposed. The Jammers provide a surprising amount of cover from Valus and the other Cabal enemy fire, so try to keep him in your sights as you disable it and put the Jammer in between you two to avoid his knockback attack.

Once all three Jammers have been disabled, more enemy reinforcements will arrive. Focus on taking Valus' health down to the next tick mark while paying attention to the location of the other enemies. When his health has reached the next checkpoint, he'll put up his shield again and you'll need to disable more Jammers.

The final stretch isn't much different from the previous two phases. Just remember to utilize cover, keep your head on a swivel, and try to avoid Valus' knockback ranged attack as it can easily expose you and put you at risk of dying.

After the fight, commune with the Darkness statue to complete the mission. Return to Ikora on Mars to pick up the next step in the Quest.
