Since the end of last year, we've worked excitedly with clients on this summers Euros. Weaving into this epic cultural moment will likely make or break a brand's year. The evolution of football fans, and what drives and motivates them continues apace. Here's just a handful of (hopefully helpful) highlights, but get in touch directly if you're keen to chat more.1. Audiences are increasingly rejecting social toxicity and seeking beacons of positivityto spend time coalescing around.2. The old divisive ways of agenda-driven rants for clicks is not going to wash3. From a seemingly once insatiable appetite, they're now turning off, tuning out and dialling down. 4. Younger audiences are especially overloaded with repeat content, copycat publishers and social accounts. 5. Fans are looking for an original source of truth, the instigators, the fire starters. Seeing something second hand is a failure. 6. PR and hype has changed, so campaigns now need to entirely atomise with every, single, part talked about. 7. Physical, (even old media) is paradoxically important, to become fan fuel.8. Group chats are important, but direct to talent is becoming a holy grail.

I want to change the narrative.Growing up in Atlanta, the only thing that mattered was becoming rappers, entertainers, and athletes.(Shout out to Luda, Lil Jon and Usher for shutting down the Superbowl)This narrative became my obsession.I tried becoming a professional at all three.- Never hit my growth spurt- Took dancing lessons and almost twisted an ankle- Created a rap mixtape (Promise you won't want to hear it)I felt like a failure and couldn't ever become anything special. One day, I was on YouTube and a video from Eric Thomas popped up.My immediate reaction was "If I can become great at this I could still have the lifestyle these other professions have."Then I told myself after college that I would become a motivational speaker.- Read every single book on speaking- Started practicing my talks in front of the mirror- Watched hours of keynote speeches and commencement speechesThe more videos I watched, the more obsessed I became. Then I put what I learned to the test by posting motivational videos on Facebook.People started to notice. And that got me invited to come to do talks. But there is one speech that stood out above the rest.Speaking to this group of kids.We didn't talk about how to make the most lit mixtape of all time.We talked about careers and they asked me some of the best questions I have ever heard. I show up daily to show African Americans that there is another way to live the lifestyle they want. You don't have to be a rapper, entertainer, or athlete. That can be done through sales, leveraging LinkedIn, and content creation.Until this becomes a mainstream topic, I will continue to show up and build on top of that dream. Why do you show up every day on LinkedIn to create content?

🎬 Picture this: A client recently came to us for a consulting session. Let's call her Emma. Emma's business page was like a comedy show! It was filled with hilarious reels. But here's the kicker - despite all the laughs, her sales numbers were as flat as a pancake on a Sunday morning. After some detective work, we discovered the culprit. 💡 As we delved deeper into the depths of Emma's social media kingdom, we discovered the fatal flaw: her business failed to gather and analyze data about its target audience. They were missing in action, and so were the sales!👉Without understanding what makes your audience tick, you're just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping it sticks. Spoiler alert: it usually doesn't😏Now, don't get us wrong. We're all for a good laugh and we like funny reels, but when it comes to business, you gotta know who you're talking to. Otherwise, it's like trying to sell ice to penguins - not gonna happen! So, here's the deal. If you want your business to thrive, you gotta get to know your audience. Gather that data, analyze it like a boss, and then create content that speaks directly to their hearts (and wallets!).And hey, if you want more hilarious stories and social media marketing tips, follow✅ our VR Agency's page.

Something we’ve kept trying to ignore night after night, but finally, as a journalist who aims for accuracy and context in the media, let’s look at:SportsNet LA, the Dodgers-owned cable channel, runs a promo about three times a broadcast. Or it seems like 15 some nights. It asks us to connect the dots about great moments in team history to an upcoming game/broadcast. Voiceover on video of fans cheering and Dodgers players celebrating on the field: “Remember September 9, 1965?”Vin Scully call: “A perfect game!”Actually, yep, we do remember. It wasn’t a day game, as you show, but a night game. At Dodger Stadium. There is no TV or film of it. It was Sandy Koufax’s fourth no-hitter. A perfecto. Not so perfect: Showing black-and-white video of … we aren’t quite sure. Fans at a Dodgers-Yankees World Series game? The team celebrating Koufax’s win in Game 7 of the ‘65 World Series in Minnesota? An episode of “Mr. Ed” with Leo Durocher pretending he is the Dodgers manager?Poetic license may allow for some liberties, but do they otherwise take Dodgers fans to be idiots? Apathetic about a real occirance? Or did the bros in marketing insist: C’mon, it’s close enough. It is creating an idea. It’snot meant to be literal. Besides, no one will notice or say anything about it. This has been like a daily paper cut and finally caught us on a weird day where we had to write something. It feels like back when Ken Burns did his “Baseball” documentary and subbed in all sorts of incongruous photos and film to illustrate his narrative. Including documenting Koufax’s perfect game with photos from other games he pitched. Enough people paying attention caught on quickly. In the grand scheme of things, most may not care. But let’s do better, eh? Anyone else care to guess what visuals these events really came from?

Going viral used to get you on Ellen. Now it's just seen as 'cute'.The only way to become famous used to be lining up outside major Hollywood studios and hoping that the extras they were looking for that day matched your vibe. Then when television was popularised, this opened up so many more opportunities to become a household name. In the 80’s and 90’s, networks like MTV made music videos SUPER cool, and the rise of talk shows also meant that these became new ways to seek out fame. Artists would beg producers outside their offices to listen to their CDs. In the 2000’s we got reality tv. Game shows, competitions and early social media bloggers really started to take off. Suddenly, ordinary people could become celebrities. By the 2010’s, social media really took off. -Platforms like Instagram, YouTube and Vine introduced self-made content creators. -Artists were being discovered from posting covers on YouTube. -Brands started to take notice, and so many partnerships and businesses were created in this era.2020’s and beyond, TikTok and streaming platforms like Netflix have allowed people to gain rapid fame. LinkedIn has helped people greatly scale businesses. -Posting a video of you dancing on a busy train and then walking in Paris Fashion week and working with designer labels just 3 weeks later. -Growing your following from 29K to 4M+ in a month. -Putting out your own self-produced single and charting number one on the radio. Does going viral hold the same weight when the barriers to entry have been greatly reduced? As someone who has directly felt the dopamine hits that come when you’ve had 3 videos get over 1 million views and 5 get over 200K, I think that the new challenge is no longer to just ✨go viral✨Now, it is to build a community of people that are choosing to actually come back to you and follow you/your business along on your journey. So, for brands and creators alike, our focus should be on having consistent and sustained growth over the span of months instead of chasing volatile and ‘overnight’ success. The quality of our audiences will be so much stronger!
