The First Look at Season 8 of Vanderpump Rules Is Finally Here! (2024)

At the end of a long day, sometimes the best way to feel like you're living your best life is with some comfy PJ's, a glass of wine, and gratuitous reality television. • Bravo just dropped a first look at season 8 of Vanderpump Rules and it's set to premiere on January 7.
• In a recent podcast episode, the show's Stassi Schroeder revealed she is, indeed, on the outs with one-time BFF Kristen Doute, which viewers will see on the show.
• The next season will also show bad boy and original cast member Jax Taylor marry longtime girlfriend Brittany Cartwright as well as Stassi's engagement to fiancé Beau Clark.

The cast of Vanderpump Rules are back!

Since the show first premiered in 2013, the main cast members, who started off as employees at Lisa Vanderpump's SUR restaurant in L.A., go through the roller coaster that is life. The list of stars includes Lala Kent, Stassi Schroeder, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, Ariana Madix, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Scheana Shay, Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, and James Kennedy.

What to expect? "A lot of really strong dynamics of how things change and how they've grown up. You see them advancing," Vanderpump, executive producer and star of the show, told Us Weekly. "One step forward, two steps back. It's a great season, as always it's gonna be a long season because there's a lot of content and complicated dynamics."

Now that we know Vanderpump is basically promising a whole lot of drama, let's debrief on what happened in season 7—and what fans can expect in season 8.

When will Vanderpump Rules season 8 premiere?

Bravo revealed the "most intense season ever" will premiere on Tuesday, January 7 at 9 p.m. ET.

Is there a trailer yet?

Although there is no official trailer, Bravo just released the first look clip above. In it, you can see the focus is on the rifts among the friendships of Jax and Sandoval, and the "Witches of Weho," as they've called themselves: Stassi, Kristen, and Katie.

Viewers are also going to be introduced to a brand new set of faces: Dayna Kathan, Brett Caprioni, and Max Boyens.

Season 7 is currently available to watch on BravoTV.com and the Bravo app with a cable provider login. The episodes are also available for purchase on YouTube and Amazon. Seasons 1 through 6 can be streamed on Hulu. (Be sure to take advantage of their free 7-day trial if you haven't already).

How did season 7 of Vanderpump Rules end?

In the finale, viewers saw Brittany and Jax get engaged after being together for three years. The couple celebrated it by hosting an enchanted-themed engagement party.

Stassi and her boyfriend Beau Clark, which viewers first met in season 6, were doing better than ever—until her insecurities got the best of her and she flipped out on him not once, but twice. The first time was during her joint birthday celebration with Ariana and the other was during a group trip to Mexico. Both instances were sparked because Beau wanted to hang out with the rest of the guys and Stassi just wanted him to stay in with her. The two worked through their issues and are now celebrating their engagement, which we'll get to.

Katie and Ariana were trying to be supportive partners as they watched Sandoval and Schwartz work closely with Lisa to open up TomTom, their new bar in West Hollywood.

Fans saw Lala deal with the untimely death of her father, who passed away in April 2018. As a result, she got closet to the cast but also had angry outbursts toward supporting cast members—a.k.a "friends"— Raquel Leviss and Billie Lee.

As always, Scheana was trying to prove her loyalty to Stassi, Katie, and Kristen by cutting ties with James. He became the outcast in the group after fat shaming Katie during Pride and performing a rap that poked fun at Jax's season 6 infidelity with Brittany.

Viewers also got to see the friendship between "The Witches of Weho" (Stassi, Katie, and Kristen) take a turn when the first two called out their BFF about her tumultuous relationship with longtime boyfriend Carter.

The reunion ended with fans finding out that Brittany and Jax had bought a house together, and that Katie and Schwartz bought another one not to far from them while Kristen purchased one just down the street. Oy.

Who's in the Vanderpump Rules season 8 cast?

There's no doubt that Lala, Stassi, Tom Sandoval, Kristen, Ariana, Tom Schwartz, Katie, Jax, Brittany, and Scheana are returning next season.

Considering that James's girlfriend Raquel got a job at SUR in April, chances are viewers will see James around too.

According to the first look clip above, a SUR server named Dayna Kathan has been added to the cast.

"I think it's interesting. I think every show needs a new fresh person or new fresh idea to keep it going, so it's only good," Stassi told Us Weekly in July. "I never really know what truly to tease because you never know what's going to be important and what's going to happen. I'm always just as excited as anyone else."

One person we already know quit the show is Billie Lee. The former hostess, who spoke candidly about being a transgender woman on the show, confirmed her exit on her blog.

"The bullying on and off camera brought my deep insecurities to the surface, this dark black mirror held up high for everyone in public to see and to judge," she wrote, revealing that she started journaling to cope. "During this time, I realized that SUR was no longer right for me! I had many people try to convince me to stay, 'Billie do another year! You are stronger than this.' But honestly, I couldn't do another year and I wasn't strong enough."

What will Vanderpump Rules season 8 be about?

After watching Brittany and Jax get engaged and celebrate with a huge party, viewers will finally see these two get married on the show. The couple became Mr. and Mrs. on June 29 at the Kentucky Castle in Brittany's home state of, you guessed it, Kentucky.

Another happy occasion we'll be privy to is Stassi and Beau's engagement. Beau popped the question at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on July 31. Considering we've watched the two bond over their shared love of all things gory, it's fitting that he was surrounded by graves when he popped the question.

"OMG. I feel like Meghan Markle," Stassi captioned her photo with the announcement.

Something else fans will see unravel is the falling out between Kristen, Stassi, and Katie. In her recent podcast episode, Stassi Schroeder revealed to unofficial Bravo ambassador Danny Pellegrino that the rumors that she's on the outs with Kristen are true.

"Obviously you know I can't f*king say anything, but obviously everyone's instincts are right with just some of us. Not all of us!" she said.

Although Stassi didn't go into detail about what happened between them, since it'll all unfold on season 8, she did admit she's not sure how fans will perceive the drama between them.

"I don't know! Because I've sat there, and I'm like, 'Am I gonna look like the asshole in this situation, or is she?' I have no idea. I'm prepared to look like the asshole, but whatever it is, I'm like, listen, I have to take care of my own mental and emotional health first, and if taking a break from someone is a bitch move and makes me nasty, then like, I don't give a f*ck," she said. "It doesn't mean I don't care about her. I absolutely do," she quickly added. "It's just, sometimes, you just can't be in the same room as someone without wanting to kill them. So there's that."
