Short-term Care Quality

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our short-term care rating. Our short-term care scores are thought to be most critical for those in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the average facility. The hope is that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of residents that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an C. Our nursing grade focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of skill of the nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this metric.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Among this nursing home's alarming category grades was a lowly F for its inspection rating. Typically, this means we found red flags on the facility's inspections. When a facility has this bad of an inspection grade, you should expect some severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circ*mstance.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Turning to our last category, this nursing home really did not fare very well here either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that don't fare well in long-term care often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in a few of the areas of routine personal care we assessed. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 88.51351 percent of its patients. This is pretty significantly less than average. Surprisingly, this nursing home actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
