Vanilla is just the game without any modifications of any kind, including assets. Since you come from the console version, yes, that means you played vanilla before.
Perhaps one of the best maps among the offerings of the vanilla game, Diamond Coast not only serves as one of the few tropical maps in the game, but also one that offers a realistic take on the surrounding landscapes of the city.
For a comfortable starting map with a huge percentage of buildable area, Tampere is the map to go for beginners of the series. Boasting 66% buildable area, which is 13% greater than the next map with the largest buildable area, beginners can expect to have the freedom of building a huge metropolitan city.
Maps are the areas where you build your city. Each map is divided into tiles that you can unlock as the game progresses. The full map consist of 81 tiles (9x9), but tile borders are only shown for the 25 middle tiles (5x5).
According to the developer, Cities: Skylines 2's map size is 61.39 square miles (or 159 square kilometers). This means that the game has 441 unlockable tiles to expand each starting region. As for the good news, most of this area will be buildable because the game doesn't require connected tiles.
Both SimCity and Cities: Skylines offer unique gameplay experiences, with SimCity being a more streamlined and arcade-style experience and Cities: Skylines being a more realistic and complex simulation game.
You should use an equal-area projection if you're mapping something that's fundamentally tied to area, such as crop acreage, population density, the size of empires, and so on. For maps of cities or small regions, the choice is easy: use the Mercator projection.
The most ideal size for max density grids is 112x112m. This is a basic square shape that's suitable for all district types. It provides plenty of space for buildings while also providing good connectivity for vehicles and pedestrians.
